Diurnal Wind Pattern and Climate Condition on the Coastal Region of Qatar

Climate pattern in the Persian Gulf is of great interest due to strategic geographical location gulf as a waterway major oil transportation and its increasing regional economic importance. However, long term continues climate observations this region are rare, especially for high resolution data. High wind conditions were measured at 3 heights on 9 m tower shoreline north Qatar (26.08 N, 51.36 E) from August 2015 September 2016. In work, annual patterns (wind velocity, temperature, relative humidity, air pressure) first presented. Drag coefficient, turbulent kinetic energy sensible heat flux calculated using speed data explain observed pattern. The results show southern part dominant by northwest stream with diurnal average 4.7 m/s. During test year, temperature humidity 27°C 70%, respectively. drag coefficient much higher 270o-330o, corresponding coming mainly northwest. Turbulent Kinetic Energy (TKE) strong during daytime, around noon when value peak, weak night. result analysis may be used better understanding local climate, allowing further assessment pollution diffusion region.
